Food plant fire

ONE person was killed and another was slightly injured in a fire yesterday in a meat-processing plant in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. The fire started at 8:20am in the plant owned by Shuanghui Beidahuang Food Co Ltd, said an official with the Harbin Economic-Technological Development Zone, where the plant is located. There were about 300 employees working at the time of the fire, which was extinguished by noon. Rescue workers said the fire was likely caused by overheated machinery but is still being investigated.
