Forbidden City closes for Obama

THE Forbidden City in Beijing is closed today as US President Barack Obama paid a visit this afternoon.

Chang'an Avenue has been half closed since this morning. Obama's hotel is also heavily guarded and patrolling armed police will shadow the president during his three days in Beijing.

Beijing's weather is also fine for sightseeing despite heavy snow storms last week, according to Shanghai Evening News today.

The Forbidden City is the imperial home of 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasty for more than 400 years.

It is reported that the president will visit the Badaling section of Great Wall tomorrow after his meeting with China's premier Wen Jiabao.
