Forced demolition cases injure 8 in Heilongjiang
EIGHT members of two families were injured since late June after three homes were forcibly demolished in Qing'an County, Heilongjiang Province, as the local government did nothing, a report said.
Wang Dejun and his family were woken by an excavator in the early morning on July 9. The family of three tried to flee when they were beaten up by an unidentified group of thugs. They were forced back home while the demolition was still going on. All three were injured, People's Daily reported yesterday.
In another case, Zhai Demin and his family were assaulted by more than 50 men armed with sticks, iron bars and bricks. The men came to knock down Zhai's house on July 5. Zhai's son and his son's brother-in-law were seriously wounded in the attack and rushed to a hospital. Zhai, his wife and his father were also injured, the report said.
Police arrived at the scene but "didn't stop the demolition," the report said.
Meanwhile, Liu Shuhe's house was torn down by a real estate developer on June 25 while he was away. The forced demolition was carried out even though he had not signed a compensation deal.
Different real estate developers were involved in each case and none of them were punished, the report said.
The government told the newspaper the companies were authorized to develop the land plots, but they couldn't provide the documents authorizing the projects.
