Foreigner police assault

A DRUNK foreigner from a Middle Eastern country was detained on Saturday morning in Beijing for allegedly assaulting a police officer and driving into two pedestrians, police said yesterday.
The 25-year-old, who was not named, together with other foreigners, beat a parking lot employee in a dispute over the fee about 7am in Chaoyang District, said a spokesman for Beijing's public security bureau.
The foreigner refused to identify himself when police arrived and tried to force his way out of the parking lot in his car, the spokesman said.
The foreigner, who was drunk, physically assaulted a policeman who tried to stop the car, the police said. The officer was dragged behind the car for 40 meters. The foreigner also hit two pedestrians with his car as he tried to escape.
The police officer and pedestrians were injured.
Police said the driver's blood alcohol level was 204.7 milligrams per 100 milliliters of blood. The drunk driving limit is 80mg per 100ml.
