Foreigner ‘regretful’ for beating Chinese driver over honking
A foreign man said he felt regretful after he beat a Chinese driver, Modern Express reported today.
The incident occurred last Monday between the foreigner identified as Mark, said to be from the High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University, and a Chinese driver surnamed Gao, who was in his 60s, it reported.
Surveillance videos showed Mark was walking in a residential complex and stepped aside when Gao’s car was approaching him from behind.
But for some reason, Mark slapped the hood of the car. He also picked up a broom and hit the driver from the open window before he left, videos showed.
The driver got off and chased the expat. But he was beaten to the ground, suffering bruises on his head, it reported.
Mark said Gao hooted at him and cursed him, which enraged him. But Gao said he was driving very slowly and didn't honk his horns.
Police said the road was under construction and the two were very close. They might misunderstand each other.
Police also said Mark felt very regretful about what he did after he saw the surveillance video.
