Former Inner Mongolia senior political advisor sentenced to death
FORMER senior political advisor and police chief of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Zhao Liping was sentenced Friday to death for murder, bribery, and possession of fire arms and explosives.
Zhao was also stripped of his political rights and had personal property worth two million yuan (US$293,535) confiscated, according to a statement from Taiyuan City Intermediate People's Court in the central province of Shanxi.
The former vice chairman of the Inner Mongolia regional committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was found to have shot dead a victim, identified only as Li, in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, in March, 2015.
Over the course of the investigation police found guns, bullets and a number of detonators that led back to Zhao.
Zhao had also taken advantage of his post to help others secure business contracts and official positions, and accepted bribes totaling 23.68 million yuan from 2008 to 2010, during his tenure as the chief of the Public Security Department of Inner Mongolia, according to the statement.
