Former N China official commits suicide

A former chairman of the Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference of Hohhot, in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, committed suicide yesterday, said local police today.

Around 10pm yesterday, police received a report that Zhang Penghui had died after slitting his wrists in his office.

Zhang, 60, served in multiple positions in the autonomous region before taking office as chairman of the municipal political consultative body from 2008 to 2013.
