Former Shanxi Official Admits Taking US$2.4m Bribes
LING Zhengce, a former senior official in north China’s Shanxi Province, admitted taking bribes and expressed remorse when he appeared in court yesterday.
Ling, former vice chairman of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, had been accused of taking advantage of his various posts to offer help to companies and individuals, including former Deputy Shanxi Governor Du Shanxue, in return for bribes worth more than 16 million yuan (US$2.4 million) either to himself or through his son Linghu Shuai, according to the indictment of the People’s Procuratorate of Changzhou in east China.
Sentence will be announced at a later date.
