Former butler accused of antiques theft

A FORMER butler of the late scholar Ji Xianlin is one of two people accused of stealing millions of yuan worth of antiques and books from Ji's former home at Peking University in Beijing.

Beijing police have detained two people and recovered all the stolen items, CCTV reported today.

One suspect was Ji's former butler surnamed Fang, the report said.

Ji's former room at campus was ransacked last Wednesday with the balcony window smashed, according to earlier media reports.
