Former top adviser goes on trial
A former senior political adviser from central China’s Hunan Province stood trial yesterday on charges of accepting more than 13.56 million yuan (US$2.18 million) in bribes.
Yang Baohua, 68, former vice chairman of the provincial advisory body, is accused of helping others with contracts and land transfers between 1996 and 2014 when he held various city and provincial positions.
In return, he took money and goods from them, prosecutors told the Intermediate People’s Court in Guilin, capital of south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
According to Xinhua news agency, Yang admitted his guilt during the trial but no verdict was given by the court.
