Former top cop faces inquiry
A FORMER senior police officer of southwestern China's Chongqing Municipality has been caught up in a crackdown on organized crime and bribery.
Wen Qiang, who served as Chongqing's vice public security director for 16 years, was seized by officers on August 7 after leaving a plane at Chongqing's Jiangbei International Airport. His successor, Wang Lijun, was among the officers, China Newsweek said yesterday.
Wen was put under double-designation, which requires Party members to explain themselves at a designated place and for a designated duration.
