Foxconn seeks 'mature' workers for its Wuhan plant
THE Taiwan-funded Foxconn Technology company has made "mature and stable mind" the most primary requirements during its recruitment of workers for its new factory in central China Wuhan City.
"The first standard for the new recruits is that they must be mature and have a stable mind," Wuhan Evening News quoted Zhang Zhongliang, the company's human resource manager, as saying today.
The world's leading electronics contractor Foxconn, which has been beset by a spate of workers suicides in its Shenzhen mega factory, blamed the deaths on the fragile state of mind of the young migrant workers while workers criticized the company's harsh management. A total of 10 workers in Foxconn's Shenzhen factory, all young people in their 20s, died after committing suicide this year.
Foxconn plans to hire 15,000 people for its the Wuhan Foxconn Technology Park which is to produce laptop and desktop computers. Foxconn expects the recruitment to finish by the end of this year and 7,000 people will be recuited in August alone.
The company has been moving its production lines to inland cities after two salary hikes in its factory in the south China coastal Shenzhen City. Foxcoon is reported to offer its assembling workers in Wuhan a salary of 950 yuan a month as compared to more than 2,000 a similar worker is paid in its Shenzhen factory.
