Foxconn worker in fatal fall
A worker died after falling from a Foxconn dormitory in southern China, the seventh employee to die this year after falling from buildings at the world's top contract maker of cell phones, news reports said yesterday.
Foxconn, whose clients include Apple and Sony Ericsson, has faced criticism over the welfare of its employees after the spate of apparent suicides. Police are investigating whether the latest death was a suicide.
The 21-year-old man from Anhui Province had four injuries, apparently knife wounds, the Yangcheng Evening News reported, citing Foxconn's media coordinator.
Police found a blood-stained knife at the scene, and bloodstains were found at the top of the seven-story building, the report said.
The fall happened on Friday night, the newspaper said.
