Fraudulent doctor blocks inspection
THE consultation office of a traditional Chinese medicine guru refused entry to inspectors from health authorities on Thursday morning, after state television revealed that he had lied about his medical background.
Security guards at Dadaotang, where Liu Fengjun receives patients, shut the door on officials from the health bureau of Beijing's Xicheng District, saying the office was closed for holiday. The officials left after taking pictures of the closed door, the Beijing Times -reported yesterday.
"We will close down Dadaotang's business if it is found to be conducting illegal medical practices," Mao Yu, vice director of Beijing's Health Bureau, told China Central Television.
Liu claimed that his food therapy could cure fatal -diseases such as cancer and that he can make diagnosis only based on patients' photographs. However, his profile was found to be full of inconsistencies and an investigation discovered he had lied about his medical experience.
