Freed killer in court again for slaying 2 strangers

A sadist killer who stabbed two strangers to death early this year stood on trial yesterday in Shaoguan City in southern Guangdong Province.

The prosecutors said the man, a security guard surnamed He, was on his way to buy some fruit on the morning of February 18 when he saw a beggar sleeping in an ATM room. Seeing no one was around, he took out a fruit knife and stabbed the beggar's face and body 13 times, killing him on the spot.

Two weeks later on March 2, he induced a schoolboy who was on his way home to an empty house and stabbed him also 13 times. The boy died immediately, the Guangzhou Daily reported today.

At yesterday's hearing at the Shaoguan City Intermediate People's Court, He refused to tell about his motives for killing the two innocent strangers, the report said.

The report said He, a local native, was sentenced to death with a two- year reprieve in 1990 for intentional homicide and rape. But he was released two years ago after his sentence was commuted to 19 years because of his good performance in prison.
