Fresh probe into officials linked to CCTV fire
PROSECUTORS have ordered a second police investigation into 23 people related to the fatal fire earlier this year at China Central Television Station's new building, China National Radio reported today.
That means officials such as former dean of the building project Xu Wei could face more charges. They have been arrested over accusations of causing a public hazard with dangerous substances, state radio cited close sources as saying.
Xu could face other corruption accusations and some other officials may also face charges of negligence, the report said. Previous investigation indicated Xu had allegedly taken kickbacks from buying fireworks.
A fire broke out at the new CCTV building on February 9, killing a firefighter and injuring seven people.
