Furniture seller sought after 5 stabbed to death

POLICE in central China's Henan Province have issued an arrest warrant for a furniture seller after five people were stabbed to death and three injured, Xinhua news agency reported yesterday.

Ding Jinhua, 38, who runs a furniture shop in Luohe City, stabbed three people to death around noon on Thursday in Dazhuzhuang Village, said the provincial public security department.

Police said he then drove to the furniture market in Luohe and killed a businesswoman there. Witnesses said she was attacked while taking a nap and stabbed seven times.

Ding then killed a taxi driver outside the market and drove away the taxi, it is claimed
He is said to have later hijacked a second taxi, injuring the driver.

Ding is described as 1.75 meters tall and wearing glasses.

Police are offering 50,000 yuan (US$8,147) for information leading to Ding's arrest.
