Game on People鈥檚 Daily website awards points for beating up corrupt officials
THE People’s Daily website launched an online game in which players can beat up corrupt officials.
The site www.people.com.cn launched the game on Thursday. Players can use their mouse to control a stun gun and click to beat up corrupt officials who keep bumping up onto the screen. A score of 100 points is awarded after hitting each official.
Police officers also appear on the screen from time to time, and any click mistakenly hitting an officer will lead to a 100-point deduction.
The corrupt officials have different images. Some are showing off cash, a symbol of embezzlement of public funds; some are holding seals, hinting at the misuse of authority; some are salivating with eyes made into heart shapes, meaning the officials have mistresses.
The game has attracted attention from netizens, given that People’s Daily is considered as a “serious” newspaper that has just launched a “light and funny” game, Internet posts noted.
The officials pop up faster as the game continues, making it more challenging to players.
“There are too many corrupt officials in the latter part of the game and it seems impossible to beat all of them up,” said netizen “Shantoucao T-bag” in a post.
Others said they wished they could do more than just take action against corrupt officials in a game.
