Gas leak kills one worker, poisons 6 in Fuyang factory

A poisonous gas leak killed a worker in a hardware factory and triggered an evacuation of nearby residents in Fuyang City, neighboring Zhejiang Province this morning.
The leak, which happened around 10:40am, also sent six workers into coma. Three of them are still in critical condition, a Fuyang government information official told Shanghai Daily.
The gas has been identified as arsenide cyanide, a lethal byproduct yielded through processing and storing arsenide. Many nearby residents have been evacuated, the official said. But the exact number is unclear.
Firefighters have turned off the gas valve to prevent further leak while the city's environment authorities are measuring the amount of harmful gas in the air, the official said.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
