Girl, 12, admits putting poison in bottle of coke

A 12-year-old girl has told police she poisoned two sisters in central China’s Hunan Province, according to Xinhua news agency.

The girls — aged 13 and 7 — were found lying on the road in Jiebei Town last Wednesday.

The older girl was dead, while her sister died in hospital.

Police said the older girl’s classmate, who they named as Xiaowen, had handed herself in, saying she had poisoned them for revenge.

Xinhua said Xiaowen and the older girl, who they named as Xiaoxia, were friends but often quarreled.

Xiaoxia told her mother about the disputes and she had words with Xiaowen’s grandparents, causing them to scold her, Xinhua said.

“My grandparents always blamed me and I couldn’t count how many times I have been blamed,” Xiaowen told Xinhua, adding that she hated Xiaoxia for telling on her.

Matters came to a head when Xiaoxia told her mother about Xiaowen kicking her young sister, who police named as Xiaolin.

Not only did the mother tell her grandparents but she also pinched Xiaowen’s ears. “It was very painful,” she is said to have told her teacher.

Xiaowen bought a bottle of coke and put rat poison in it and then gave it to the sisters, Xinhua reported.

Xiaowen is now in police custody, while the person who sold her rat poison is being questioned, Xinhua said.
