Girl, 16, jumps to death as 4 men attempt gang rape

POLICE in central China's Hunan Province detained five men, including two police officers, for allegedly attempting to rape a 16-year-old girl who jumped to death in resistance, authorities told the media yesterday.
The girl surnamed Qiu was a friend of one suspect surnamed Lin, a 40-year-old mechanic in Fenghuang County. Qiu invited him to dine in a local hotel on September 4.
Lin brought his friends, two traffic police officers surnamed Gong and Xu and two bus drivers surnamed Wang and Han to the appointment.
After drinking, Lin and his four friends opened a hotel room for Qiu and intended to have sex with her. Qiu fled from the room and jumped from a window on the ninth floor. She died at the scene.
The case is still under investigation.
