A six-year-old girl helped save a boy who had slipped into a pond by holding his hand for 40 minutes before he was rescued in Ziyang City, Sichuan Province, West China Metropolis Daily reported.
The girl named Wang Ziying went out with her desk-mate Wang Yuelong after class in Songtao Town in Ziyang on December 25. When the boy fell into a 1-meter-deep pond, Wang Ziying stood on the bank and held his hands for over 40 minutes while shouting for help, according to the report.
The girl’s mother found them and pulled the boy to safety. The boy was numb from the cold water but uninjured, the report said.
The Songtao Town government praised Wang Ziying as a hero, the report added.
