Girl stole identity to go to university
THE daughter of a senior police officer in a central China city posed as her high school classmate using counterfeit documents to complete her university courses.
But her scheme was uncovered after her classmate had difficulty in applying for online banking services.
Wang Jiajun, the imposter, is the daughter of Wang Zhengrong, commissar of Longhui County public security bureau in Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, the China Youth Daily reported yesterday.
Wang Jiajun posed as her former classmate Luo Caixia to study at Guizhou Normal University in 2004.
Luo, who was not enrolled by any universities that year, took the university entrance exam in 2005 and went to Tianjin Normal University.
With a whole set of fake documents, Wang Jiajun accomplished her college study smoothly and was granted a bachelor degree as well as a teaching license last year.
Meanwhile, Luo discovered there was a woman sharing the same identity details when she applied for online banking. Her application was refused as the bank already had a woman with the same personal data.
Luo also had problems getting her teaching license, bachelor degree and graduation certificate for the same reason.
Luo later identified the woman as Wang Jiajun, a former classmate.
Luo's entrance exam mark of 2004 was 514, while Wang Jiajun only got 335.
Wang Zhengrong has admitted his daughter posed as Luo and had tried to persuade Luo to give up her identity number but Luo had refused.
The Guiyang Normal University has decided to revoke Wang Jiajun's degree and other certificates.
Wang herself has returned to Shaoyang, her hometown, as she failed to find a job in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province.
No one knew who had made the fake documents and why Wang Jiajun could pass university checks so easily with those counterfeit materials.
The education authority said it was almost impossible to counterfeit all the materials needed to pass verification.
Luo tried to file a suit at a Tianjin court against Wang Jiajun for the infringement of her identity and right to receive university education, but it has been rejected.
