'Golden Locks' adapted into opera
TAIWAN Peking opera "A Tale of Golden Locks" will be staged at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing on November 21.
The opera is based on a novel by author Eileen Chang and was created by the island's Guoguang Opera Company.
The opera caused a sensation when it premiered in Taipei in 2006.
The troupe partitions the stage to create changes of space and time and makes full use of film montages to present Chang's visual imagination and compact plot.
Taiwan's internationally acclaimed Cloud Gate Dance Theater will perform the dance "Cursive" at the NCPA on November 27. The work includes elements of calligraphy.
