Golden retriever escapes dog snatchers with help of passer-by
A real-life version of common-seen movie plots where smart dogs escape from danger recently occurred in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province. A golden retriever turned to a traveler for help when suspected professional dog thieves followed it.
The woman surnamed Xiong found the dog being followed by two men, when she was visiting the ancient Confucius Temple on July 13. She felt weird about the situation and talked to the two followers, but they kept silent. Yangtze Evening News reported on website today.
When the two men called the dog to get into a minivan, it seemed hesitant and hid behind Xiong. Xiong, with years of dog feeding experience, suspected the two men as professional dog thieves.
She guided the dog away from the scene. When she confirmed its safety, she attempted to take a taxi back to hotel. Unexpectedly, the dog jumped into the taxi, and Xiong took it back to the hotel where she called police.
After the dog was sent to local police station, an officer took pictures and posted them online for clues. Its owner showed up two days later when Xiong found a post about a missing golden retriever.
The man surnamed Fu said "Han Han" has left home for several days. Veterinarians confirmed that Han Han is suffering from depression due to the heat and separation from the owner.
