‘Gone with the Bullets’ leads China's box office
Acclaimed Chinese director Jiang Wen's "Gone with the Bullets" ruled China's box office in the week ending December 21 by grossing 345 million yuan (about US$55.3 million).
The film, which debuted on Thursday, tells the story of a beauty pageant in 1920s Shanghai. It stars Jiang and popular actor Ge You.
"Fleet of Time," a domestic romance depicting the lives of China's post-80s generation, earned 98 million yuan, China Film News reported on Wednesday. Its total box office earnings have hit 548 million yuan since its debut on December 5.
Domestic rom-com "Meet Miss Anxiety" came in third by taking in 60.5 million yuan. The film has grossed 149.7 million yuan since its December 12 release.
The fourth spot went to John Woo's "The Crossing: Part 1," which stars famed Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi and actress Song Hye-Kyo from the Republic of Korea. The drama grossed 20.5 million yuan in the week and its total box office earnings reached 180.2 million yuan by the end of the week.
Rounding out the top-five list was another domestic rom-com, "Women Who Flirt," which pulled in about 15.7 million yuan in the week. Its total ticket sales stood at 226.5 million yuan.
