Good Samaritan seeks publicity

AN 82-year-old man in Zhejiang Province has made himself the subject of pros and cons as he demanded praise of his bravery deed to be published in local newspapers after saving a drowning woman.

The man surnamed Sun said his noble spirit should be published to the public. He said his deeds should be recommened at a time when bravery is dying.

The 57-year-old woman asked her daughter to post Sun's request for praise online. Many online comments said that Sun did so to seek fame, Chongqing Evening News reported today.

Sun denied these accusations. In return, the veteran who had fought in the Chinese War against Japanese Aggression during the WW II, said the younger generation could not understand his pure and good deed.

"We would surely thank him in private," said He's daughter surnamed Han, "But we don't want cameras poking into our lives." Han added Sun insisted to have it published in newspaper.
