Government officials in Henan found accepting bribes and bribing their way to promotions

RECENT discipline inspections of local governments, universities and state-owned enterprises have found a number of corruption cases, according to the anti-graft authority on Monday.

Inspection teams have delivered feedback on Henan and Liaoning provinces, Shanghai's Fudan University and China Oil and Foodstuffs Corporation, a state-owned enterprise.

Some government officials in Henan were found accepting bribes during land sales and project tendering, living corrupt lives, exercising cronyism, and bribing their way to promotions.

Officials in Liaoning intervened in tendering and land and resource sales, with irregularities in public vehicle use, among other items of misconduct.

Inspectors also found chaotic management of research funds in Fudan University, and system of affiliated hospitals too big to be supervised, also prone to corruption. And the China Oil and Foodstuffs Corporation was found squandering public funds on golf and other extravagances.

No specific case has been picked out in the feedback, and the inspection teams said tip-offs have already been transferred to relevant authorities.

Inspection is a Party supervision system that forms part of the Constitution of the CPC.
