Graft investigators given clear targets

THE head of China’s disciplinary inspections urged investigators to focus on specific targets such as individuals, affiliated organs and special funds in the latest round of corruption probes.

This year’s third round of inspections will soon start for 13 state organizations, including the Ministry of Culture, China State Shipbuilding Corp, China Unicom and Sinopec.

Wang Qishan, secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, said inspection groups should have clear goals and solve corruption problems by cooperating with all departments involved.

“Some regions and departments that have already been inspected will also need a second inspection,” he said.

Inspectors should recognize corruption and malpractice by observing minor problems so as to improve undesirable work styles, he said.

Since 2012, anti-graft inspections have been completed in 31 province-level jurisdictions as well as in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.

Wang said that the leaders of inspection teams must be loyal, clean, responsible and stick to principles in order to crack the hardest nuts.
