Grand Gateway 66 to remove landmark 39-step stairway

The landmark stairway in front of the Grand Gateway 66 mall in the Xujiahui shopping area will be dismantled with the place turned into an outdoor square.
The square will serve as a venue for performance and street art shows, the Shanghai Morning Post reported.
It is the biggest outdoor square in Xujiahui after the 39-step staircase is removed.
