Group sex official fired for 'damaging morality'

AN official in southwest China's Yunnan Province has been dismissed after photographs of him taking part in group sex were posted online, local disciplinary authorities confirmed yesterday.

The Kunming Municipal Disciplinary Inspection Committee said in a statement that the behavior of the official, identified only by his surname Cheng, has "severely damaged social morality."

Cheng, an official with the Kunming Commission of Development and Reform, was also expelled from the Communist Party of China.

Stills from a video of Cheng in a "sex party" with three women were posted online on July 31. Cheng went to local police later that day, claiming that he had been blackmailed for 63,000 yuan (US$9,852).

After an investigation, the Kunming Public Security Bureau said on Tuesday that four people lured Cheng to the sex party and recorded him using a hidden camera.

The four have been arrested, said the statement.

Cheng's case came shortly after an official in central China's Henan Province was suspended for demanding sex from a woman in return for a job.

Tian Hanwen, a lawmaker in Ruyang County, became notorious after photographs of him having sex were posted online by an anonymous woman, who accused Tian of taking advantage of her.

The woman said that Tian made several unwanted sexual advances toward her after meeting her in 2006, promising to help her find a job.

Tian never fulfilled his job promise, the woman said. She also claimed that she was not his only victim.
