TWO people were killed and another two injured by a passenger train when they tried to cross railway tracks in south China's Shenzhen yesterday evening.
Train D7117, which links Guangdong Province capital Guangzhou with Shenzhen, hit the unidentified victims at around 6:13pm.
The driver applied the emergency brakes after spotting people on the tracks, but the train couldn't stop in time as it was traveling at a high speed, Guangzhou Railway Corp said yesterday.
Two people died at the scene. One of the injured had sustained serious head wounds and was still in a critical condition, while the other suffered from slight injuries, the railway operator said in a statement.
The train restarted around 6:31pm and other trains running on the line were not affected by the accident, Guangzhou Daily reported today.
