Guard killed in gold store robbery

POLICE are hunting for a man who killed a security guard while robbing a jewelry store in Henan Province, Xinhua news agency has reported.

Police said the man, in his 30s, walked into the Ruijin gold store at the intersection of Yinxi and Chang'an roads in Lingbao City at 5:20pm yesterday.

Armed with a gun and an ax, he killed a security guard, grabbed an unknown number of gold chains from the counter and ran away, police said.

Police are hunting for him and possible accomplices.

According media reports, the man was carrying a Type-54 pistol.
