Guards fired for kicking complainant
TWO security guards at a government building in southwest China have been sacked after kicking a woman to prevent her lodging a complaint to the government.
Liao Fuping and Zhu Daguo were so indifferent to the citizen that they have marred the local government image, the Party committee of Kaixian County in Chongqing Municipality was quoted as saying by yesterday's China News Service.
The committee launched an investigation after an online post with pictures showed a middle-aged woman being kicked by the two guards trying to keep her from entering the county government building to file a complaint, Xu Wenpei, a committee official, said.
The investigation found that the woman Yin Xianqiong went to the office on the morning of January 13 to file a complaint but was stopped by the two guards who suggested she send it to the government's complaint unit.
But Yin insisted. So the guards took her to officials where she kept crying until 4pm.
Since her behavior had affected normal work, Liao and Zhu escorted her out of the building. But Yin knelt down at the gate and tried to crawl back inside, Xu said.
That's when the guards kicked her and a passerby took pictures, which roused public controversy when they were posted online.
Yin was sent to a local welfare station that night, according to the investigation, and the local government has now sorted out her complaints, Xu said.
