Gun stolen from sleeping cop
POLICE in a northeast China city are offering a reward of 100,000 yuan (US$14,653.93) for anyone who can provide information leading to the recovery of a gun stolen from an officer, Xinhua news agency reported.
An officer surnamed Li with Jidong County of Heilongjiang Province's Jixi City told his supervisor on Sunday morning that when he got up his suit was missing along with the gun and seven bullets from his belt.
A bankcard, keys and 1,000 yuan in cash also disappeared.
The captain of Li's squad went to his home with three other officers and found the suit trousers lying on the staircase outside Zhang's home but the gun and bullets were missing.
A group task force headed by Jixi's vice mayor and public security bureau director Bao Hua confirmed the gun and bullets had been stolen. A footprint that did not belong to any of Zhang's family was found outside the home.
Police said the modus operandi was similar to thefts reported in the county on April 19 and 22.
An investigation showed Li had been keeping the gun correctly. He was working on a robbery the night before the theft.
