Gunman robs jewelry store of 300,000-yuan goods

A jewelry store in Huizhou City, southern Guangdong Province was robbed 300,000 yuan (US$47,480) worth of jewelries this morning by a gunman who didn't fire a single shot in the armed robbery, China News Service reported.

A Ruiyi Jewelry Store manager surnamed Lin said the robber wore a motorcycle helmet and a yellow jacket. He broke into the store around 9:30am with a shotgun.

Lin said there were more than a dozen salespersons in the store and the man ordered them to freeze. Then he smashed two glass counters, scooped up about one kilogram of jewelries, put them in a bag and left calmly.

According to Lin, the gunman didn't fire his weapon throughout the process and no one was seen to pick him up outside.

It was the third armed robbery in a jewelry store in Huizhou in five months. The other two cases have already been solved, each involving more than 1 million yuan.

Huizhou police said they are now investigating the case.
