HIV/AIDS blood donors are punishable by law
ABOUT 200 AIDS patients were found to have donated their blood in malicious revenge on society between 2010 and 2011, according to the Zhejiang Province Blood Center.
But new regulations, effective from July 1, will subject malicious blood donors to criminal punishment. They also contain provisions for donor's age, health history and donation frequency.
The blood center detected 93 HIV/AIDS-positive donors in 2010 and 94 in 2011, but it could do nothing to punish them other than persuasion, Qianjiang Evening News reported today.
The new rules also extended donors' age limit by five years to 60.
