HK activists leave for Diaoyu Islands
A small group of activists left Hong Kong to sail to uninhabited islets at the center of a territorial spat between China and Japan to help assert Beijing's claims.
The group left the outlying island of Cheung Chau in a fishing boat for the East China Sea islands, called Diaoyu in China.
"We are only going there to fish to prove that the Chinese have the right to fish in those waters," activist Lo Chau told Reuters before the group set off.
"They are Chinese waters so what we're doing is legal."
Chau said they had a month's worth of provisions on board and would return after bringing in an adequate catch.
