HK truck driver charged of homicide

A HONG KONG truck driver was indicted today in Shenzhen for intentional homicide after he allegedly dragged a three-month-old baby to death in a hit-and-run accident.

Leung Koon-biu, 32, denied the manslaughter charge and said he didn't realize the baby was still in the stroller that was entangled under his container truck after he hit the baby and his mother and fled the scene on April 25.

However, several witnesses testified that they had signaled Leung to stop at a red light and told him they saw the baby bleeding and shaking his legs under the vehicle, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.

The witnesses said Leung ignored them and tried to get rid of the stroller by driving in a wild zigzag.

The baby's parents said they personally hoped Leung would get a death penalty which he deserved, but they would accept a fair verdict handed down by the court.
