Hainan bracing for storm

Tropical storm Jebi is expected to bring heavy rain and strong gales to China’s southernmost island province of Hainan tomorrow.

A tropical depression over the South China Sea strengthened into a storm at about 8am yesterday.

Jebi, the ninth tropical storm to hit China this year, was about 690 kilometers southeast of Hainan’s Wenchang City as of 2pm yesterday, and moving northwest at up to 10 kilometers an hour.
