Hainan official punished for taking bribes
A HAINAN Province official has been dismissed and had his membership of the Communist Party of China revoked for taking bribes worth nearly 10 million yuan (US$1.46 million), today's Hainan Daily reported.
Wang Junwu, 49, deputy director of The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Hainan Province took bribes worth 9.53 million yuan during his tenure as the general manager of Hainan Travel Service International Co Ltd from March 1994 and April 2008.
Wang allegedly took the bribes when carrying out company business including the sale of 231,710 square meters of state-owned land in Haitangwan town, Sanya city.
Wang has been charged with other offences violating the disciplinary code, the Hainan disciplinary authority said.
Wang has been referred to the judicial department for further investigation.
