Hainan pharma company told to recall antidepressant medicines

A Hainan-based pharmaceutical company, which used starch to make antidepressant tablets, was ordered to stop its production, the state food and drug administration said.

The starch-made antidepressants can affect the curative effect of the patients taking them, the administration said. It is now recalling more than 140,000 boxes of the antidepressants which have already been sold. By Wednesday, some 46,000 boxes of the medicine had been recalled.
