Haze in Chinese cities to disperse
The lingering haze that shrouded some Chinese cities over the weekend will be swept away as cold fronts push through the country in the next three days, the national observatory forecast today.
Two cold fronts will hit Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and northern and northeastern provinces during the period, bringing strong winds and temperature drops of up to six degrees Celsius, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said.
NMC forecaster Ma Xuekuan predicted that additional cold fronts will bring strong winds to the country in the next 10 days and help clean up the haze in some regions.
The widespread smoggy weather that has plagued large parts of the country will not be seen during the next 10 days, Ma said.
Since the beginning of December, large parts of China have seen smoggy weather, which has led to closures of highways and schools as well as flight delays.
