Headmaster loses job for beating students in class

THE schoolmaster in east China's Anhui Province was suspended from his job for beating several students after he got drunk on December 22.

Liu Dong, the principal of the Jieji County Primary School, was accused of hitting and kicking several six-graders and forcing them to slap their own faces because they were noisy in the classroom, the Xin'an Evening News reported today.

But Liu insisted that he was not drunk and he merely patted their napes. He said he had apologized to the students and their parents, and blamed an online post for distorting the fact and smearing his reputation for personal revenge.

However, the students said they were slapped in the face and two boys' faces were still swollen, the paper reported.

Local education bureau is now investigating the case, the paper said.
