Health Company's Hong Kong Subsidiary Recalls Calcium Tablets
THE Hong Kong subsidiary of Cerebos Pacific, a manufacturer of health supplements and food products, said yesterday that it was recalling Brand's Calcium Grow Chewable Tablets as they were found to be contaminated by DEHP.
The recall was ordered after its manufacturer in Taiwan found two ingredients used as flavoring agents - strawberry juice powder and yoghurt powder - have been reported by their supplier as contaminated by DEHP. Experts have linked DEHP to cancer.
Cerebos's records show 4,608 boxes of the product have been imported from Taiwan since 2009. Cerebos has sold 2,351 boxes directly to customers. There is no retail outlet for the product.
Hong Kong officials are investigating.
