Heartless town chief sacked
A TOWNSHIP chief official in north China has been sacked after dismissing a local resident's complaint and suggesting she jump from a high building.
Shi Guozhong was removed from his position as Party secretary of Niuquanzigou Town of Shuangqiao District, Hebei Province's Chengde City, the district disciplinary supervising authority announced on Tuesday, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
Shi was approached by villager Wang Xiuzhen, 66, on November 5, to help her with her home relocation problems since 2005.
The newspaper said Wang begged Shi to hear her out, saying: "Please don't leave, or I'll have to jump to my death if no one helps me."
Shi then said: "OK, if you're determined to jump, then go to the fifth floor, not just the first or second," according to the report.
A Website published the story and sparked a public outcry against indifferent officials.
