Heavy snow to hit central, eastern China
DENSE fog, along with rain and snow, are forecast for central and eastern China over the next few days, said the National Meteorological Center today.
The center said some areas could receive up to 60mm of precipitation and northeastern regions should brace for heavy snowfall.
Thick fog will continue to blanket southern regions, the center said, warning of increased risks on roads as well as at seaports and airports.
The country's top meteorological authority issued a blue alert this morning, the lowest in a four-scale alert system, urging people in fog-affected areas to be aware of the air quality which will be worsened by the fog and to reduce driving speeds to ensure safety.
Fog and haze will decrease visibility to within 1,000 meters in some parts of Hunan and Guangdong provinces, the center said.
