Henan buyer hits China's biggest jackpot


A MYSTERY buyer in central China's Henan Province has won China's biggest lottery prize at 360 million yuan (US$52.74 million), beating the record of 113.8 million yuan.
The results were announced late last night, with six winners across the nation sharing the jackpot, today's Dahe Daily reported.

The Henan winner paid 176 yuan to buy two tickets with the same lottery numbers. This enabled him to win the top prize of 4.09 million yuan 88 times, or 360 million yuan in total.

Five other winners are from Shanghai, Beijing, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Heilongjiang and Shaanxi provinces. Each won 4.09 million yuan.

The winning ticket was bought in Meiyuanzhuang area, Anyang City, but the winner has not yet come forward.

The previous record jackpot was won by a buyer in Jiayuguan City of northwest China's Gansu Province on November 27, 2007.
