High-ranking official in Yunnan probed for fake resume

The organization department of the Party committee in southern Yunnan Province will probe an alleged fake resume accusation in which a senior official was reported to have made up her overseas work experience in order to gain promotion, The Beijing News reported today.

The department said yesterday they have collected online reports on Dang Xuyan, deputy director of the administrative commission of Kunming high-tech industrial development zone, and will start to investigate the accusations, according to the report.

After the department publicized a notice about its decision to promote Dang to a higher-ranking post at the Yunnan division of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade on June 27, a number of reports appeared online claiming the female official fabricated her resume, the report said.

The online reports claimed Dang was unemployed in 2000 and was recruited into a state-owned company managed by the administrative commission of Kunming high-tech industrial development zone in 2002.

However, according to Dang's resume, she worked in Russia and the United States for 10 years before she was invited by the Kunming government to work with the high-tech zone's administrative commission in 2000, according to the report.

Dang hadn't responded for interview by the time the newspaper went to press, the report said.
