Highway blocked
A LANDSLIDE in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region blocked a section of highway yesterday, leaving 400 vehicles stranded, local police said. The landslide occurred in Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture around noon and buried a 50-meter section of National Highway 314, prefecture police said. No one was hurt in the landslide. The road is not expected to reopen until this afternoon but food and water have been delivered to stranded motorists.
